All of the images below, and many you see as the accompanying artwork on the digital releases, are Hamell paintings. These vary in size and price, but are all acrylic on canvas. Hamell paints scenes inspired by the 'underground' and 'disenfranchised' of our society. I would sit around my apartment in Syracuse, then in Albany coming up with 'riffs' that were big, explosive through an amp, and would not be folky. (for lack of a better word, I didn't hear about Anti-Folk until I moved to Albany) The drone thing was probably inspired by Sonic Youth. I was already tuning a full step down, (I don't know why I thought I had to sing so high in those days) and when you play that riff on the 5th and 4th strings with the low 'E' ringing it sounds pretty big. The Irish girl was Sinead O'Connor who was pushing everybody's buttons at the time but I was getting a big kick out of.Played through a big ol' house P.A. with some overdubs done on a little Fender tube tweed amp. youtu.be/R3Gpswnss9w
