This song, as simple and stupid as it is, went through many incarnations arrangement-wise before I settled on the Buddy Holly simple rock thing. Got to record with Gary Lucas of Captain Beefheart fame, that was cool and also Ernie Brooks, ex-Modern Lovers who brings the hooks I think. And Jonathan Kane had played with The Swans so it was an all-star line up. Every love story has a story, you know what I mean, this isn't far removed from the 'courting' process between me and my wife, it was probably more sordid but there wasn't enough time for all the verses. It lasted 25 years though huh? Little did I know that the shit would be hitting the fan yet again!! Yeesh, this nutty life...
