All of the images below, and many you see as the accompanying artwork on the digital releases, are Hamell paintings. These vary in size and price, but are all acrylic on canvas. Hamell paints scenes inspired by the 'underground' and 'disenfranchised' of our society. Ed uses bold and bright colors in his paintings which contrast the darker subject matter, championing the underclass, drawing you into the characters he depicts, endearing you to them and sparking emotions one might not anticipate.Hamell is also available for specific painting commissions. I love garage rock. Were you to put me on a desert island with an Ipod and a choice of one kind of music, okay, it wouldn't be garage rock, it would be rock and roll from the 50's, Elvis, Jerry Lee, Roy Orbison, anything from Sun Studios, New Orleans, Doo Wop, R & B, you know, Charlie Feathers, GENE VINCENT, EDDIE COCHRAN, LITTLE RICHARD, Charlie Rich, Wanda Jackson, you know the deal...but SECOND would be garage rock, (as long as The Beatles at the Cavern or in Hamburg counts) well, maybe the first two British Invasions second, Beatles Stones Animals Yardbirds Who Zombies Them then garage rock, or maybe punk third, like Stooges New York Dolls, Patti Smith Velvet Underground Television Suicide Ramones Dictators Dead Boys then garage rock so, number 4 on a desert island would be garage rock and every band I previously mentioned dabbled in it, as well as other great bands like Oasis, (yes, fucking Oasis) and The Hold Steady, (yes, the Fucking Hold Steady), and AC/DC with Bon Scott, and The Black Lips and The White Stripes and Mitch Ryder...all garage rock in my book. But nothing, (well with the possible exception of Little Richard's Tutti Frutti) comes close to the greatest post modern art expression as 96 Tears by Question Mark and The Mysterians. Yup, I said it...so here is my attempt at Garage Rock with me playing all the instruments and hopefully sounding like a lost Kingsmen or Sonics track. How'd I do? Little Steven won't play it on Underground Garage probably but I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing....And Nick Cave could have written the lyrics and The Birthday Party were nothing if not a Garage Rock band.
