Completely a Damon Runyon rip. My father used to read me the stories when I was a kid, this one reminds me of Butch Minds the Baby or Johnny One Eye. I do the song live and I didn't listen to the recorded version so if you read the lyrics you're reading what I do now, probably added bonus words from years of messing with the material.
