Hamell paints scenes inspired by the 'underground' and 'disenfranchised' of our society. Ed uses bold and bright colors in his paintings which contrast the darker subject matter, championing the underclass, drawing you into the characters he depicts, endearing you to them and sparking emotions one might not anticipate.Hamell is also available for specific painting commissions. Funny story: Detroit who was probably 2 or 3 when this was recorded would not deviate from the actual words. I kept trying and trying to get him to do it in the basement studio to no avail. I reached out to my wife who said, "Promise him candy!" As you can see, it worked.
