about
1) HAIL MY RAGE
Hey friends. They're looking for credits and album notes and lyrics and idk 'bout you but when you got a good thing don't fuck it up right? I mean how long did it take me to learn that one? Yeesh. So here goes! That deep soulful woman's voice yer hearing there is the mighty Beehive Queen herself Christine Ohlman. Memphis in her soul, Muscle Shoals in her heart and Saturday Night Live in her bank account, it's an honor to have her. She knows why you need extra butter on the cornbread. We huddled in some little studio in Jersey and she got all James Gandolfini on us. More True Romance than Sopranos. Nice.
All the strings were written and performed by Dave Eggars. The Bee Hive Queen or one of her family members suggested him. What a find! New shit I learned recording this album: if you surround yourself with genius you come off smelling like a rose. Good to know. Dave and I have never met. We text back and forth and I get the impression he's always biking around Manhattan on his way to a symphony gig. I wonder what he looks like.
This was mixed by Matt LaBozza, my production partner in The Justice Mafia in his studio The Labozzatory in Peekskill NY. He mixed everything on the album. And co-produced with me. Pretty 50-50. Another genius. More on him later. I play everything else. I had a LOT of fun.
You know what the song's about. I don't gotta spell it out for ya. Taste that little iron thing in the back of your throat when you see that shit? That's what the song's about.
lyrics
And they're walking away, and they murdered another. There's no way they will pay, cuz their ass it is covered. Is this an album of pain? Or one of confusion? Where's the joyous refrain, when we seek retribution?
Oh it seems the evil they sleep well, upon a shielded bed of gold, 'bove a silver net that holds, they say the justice wheels are slow
And the uniform barks, and the uniform presses. Hellish flames from the sparks, when it teaches a lesson. The obvious is denied and the flaming of gaslight. All the justice will hide, no atonement is in sight.
Oh it seems the evil they sleep well, upon a shielded bed of gold, 'bove a silver net that holds, they say the justice wheels are slow. When promised retribution, karma on scales solution. Lawyer armor paper trails, exhaustion screaming public fails, un huh. Uh huh.
There ain't no talking to my rage, the demons' obstinate. Sits all alone, chugging black coffee. Googling shit like pistol permit. Looking up laws about stand your ground. What does the Buddha say about karma and balance? Goodly hearted, lampshades and soap indeed.
Oh it seems the evil they sleep well, upon a shielded bed of gold, above a silver net that holds, they say the justice wheels are slow. When promised retribution, karma on scales solution. Lawyer armor paper trails, exhausted screaming public fails, in huh. Uh huh.
Hamell on Trial is loud, fast music informed by politics, intelligence and a wicked sense of humor.

Hey you there, do you love Jeffrey Lewis? Do you love Peter Stampfel? Are you intrigued by the notion of music that has spent so many years secretly soaking in laughter and joy that it is now downright psychedelic to look upon? Both Ways is the culmination of a decade's friendship and mutual inspiration, a behemoth of a double album, spectacular, unique. It is a signpost for drifting souls. Listen, laugh, wonder, delight, be made new. And play Orgone Accumulator fucking LOUD. Grain Sparrow

Thoroughly well-crafted collection of anthemic indie punk magic. Chad proved himself once again that he is still one of the best songwriters of his generation. Mejic
